In Texas, if there’s one thing people love to do, it’s getting outdoors and embracing the weather and beautiful nature surrounding them. That’s why this list is filled with outdoor activities like hiking and swimming. Both of which you can do at Barton Creek Greenbelt found just outside of the hustle and bustle of downtown Austin. Often referred to as “The Greenbelt,” this nature reserve is packed full of dog-friendly things to do. #3 Shop Around at The Domain

Maybe you have some errands to run, or perhaps you’re in desperate need of some retail therapy. Well, do we have some good news for you! You can do it all with your dog at the pet-friendly shops at The Domain. This outdoor shopping center features boutiques that are so dog-friendly that quite a few of them will offer your pup some water and sometimes a treat! #4 Head to Yard Bar for a Drink and Puppy Playtime

This bar and eatery might just be the most fun for you and your four-legged friend! It’s one giant fenced-in dog park that features a bar and quick eats provided by Fat City Stacks, like sliders, fries, and old-school floats. #5 Hike, Bike, and Paddle Around Lady Bird Lake

If you’re a downtown dweller but love the great outdoors, Lady Bird Lake is the perfect place where the two collide in perfect harmony. If you’re looking for dog-friendly things to do in Austin, this is one of the most popular spots! With your dog securely on a leash, you can enjoy hiking, biking, and running trails near this river-like reservoir. If your dog is happy to bask in the sun, you might even consider renting a paddleboard or kayak for the two of you to enjoy on the lake. Just note that there is an alga warning for this body of water; therefore, there is a swimming ban, so you might want to stick to staying dry as much as possible.

#6 Check out the Live Music Scene at the Warehouse District

Since Austin is the live music capital of the world, we could never leave out the warehouse district from this list. While taking your dog to a crowded concert might not be the best idea, the Warehouse District is made up of restaurants, bars, and breweries, many of which have dog-friendly patio seating. In the afternoon or evening, before it gets too busy for the night, you and your pup can find a comfy shaded patio, order some drinks and eats, and take in the sounds of a live music performance.

#7 Take a Scenic Stroll Through Zilker Botanical Garden

Zilker Park is a 350-acre park southwest of downtown Austin. Here, you’ll find all kinds of activities like volleyball courts, disc golf, and a huge off-leash dog park. But one of the best things offered in the area is the botanical gardens. There are six themed gardens lined with flowers, fruit trees, and almost any kind of greenery you can think of.
